[Series] Legend of Zelda [Character] Midna [Timeline] On the way to Kakiriko Village for the first time.
[Description] The left eye is covered by the remains of a statue’s head, the grey-stone crown forming two tall-standing horns over a mischievous brow. Uncovered beneath the rocky rim marked with two snakes meeting is the right eye, red as the last hues of twilight. From out the top of the shattered stone helmet comes a gathering of tresses of sunset orange. They are bound up in a simple ponytail, wrapped with a stone ring that lets the rest trail down to yellowish color at the base of a thin neck.
The face is wholly a creature out of crazed dreams, demonic features of blue and black mottled skin broken by a smile with a single fang and enough impishness to mock jesters. Pointed ears marked black in color stretch out behind the weirdly portioned head that slides down to a petite and naked body like that of a child’s. But there are no human features to this child-like body, only colors in grey-blue and ebony marking out a pattern not unlike a piece of alien clothing swirling out in curly-cue patterns across the being’s skin to touch the ends of small limbs ending at clawed hands and tiny feet.
Rune-patterns of blue light flow out across the small arms and make tiny marks on the petite legs. What they spell out in the native tongue or what they mean in shadow’s language is as unknowable as the bearer of them, who sees with only one visible eye far more at dusk than those creatures enslaved to sun’s bright radiance.

[Personality] To say Midna is devious is an understatement; to say she is manipulative only a teasing glance at how she manages to get her way. With years of preparation to become the ruler of the Twili, Midna has learned a way of thinking that any who rules the children of former thieves and murderers would need. Be always in control; put ones people and country first; do whatever needs to be done to accomplish the first two tasks. Being recently betrayed has not lessened Midna’s need to be in charge of a situation, in fact only increasing her desire to have things done her way or not at all.
Besides being a snarky little witch, the former Twili ruler also has a tendency to impishness that puts the worst of gremlins to shame. Perhaps out of spite due to her own painful situation, Midna tends to lash out eagerly with taunts or tricks at friends and foes alike. Her pranks usually have a serious edge to them, a hard-knotted anger that exposes her frustration and feelings of helplessness at being trapped in such a ridiculous and unbecoming form.
Oh yes, Midna was once beautiful, and her quickness to bite any hand seeking to help is evident of that vanity and pride that has been trodden on and thrown in the mud. She is not compassionate or sympathetic, though sometimes an inkling of her former grace as a ruler can be seen in the way she speaks and acts, but only if one looks beyond the shadows of her past.
[Canon] She is both the sidekick and the director, the behind-the-scenes support and forefront instigator. She is acting in Hyrule for her own ends, but ironically dependent on the actions of one man to determine the fate of her own world. The 'Twilight Princess', Midna is the diposessed ruler of the Twilight Realm, a world inexorably tied to Hyrule but never meant to meet. Two sides of a coin, light and darkness, shadow and sun. The Twilight Realm came to be when a race of powerful sorcerers overstepped their bounds and were punished by the Three Goddesses to be exiled to a place where no aspiration for power or desire for destruction was allowed to exist. Or so it is thought...
Midna is seeking to regain her world from Zant, a malcontent servant of the family who mysteriously gained great power, transformed and banished the Twilight Realm's ruler, and began a campaign to cover all of Hyrule in Twilight. Though the situation at first seemed bleak, the Twilight Princess found Link, the 'Chosen One' who has the particular ability of changing into a wolf in the light of the Twilight, rather than a bodiless spirit. Seemingly without compuction or remorse, Midna has begun to use Link in her plan to regain an ancient and forbidden power of the Twili, hidden in remote places within Hyrule. |
